Charley's support for art

Charley's is keen to support the local arts community of Mission beach. Our chair has sponsored sevel rounds of the bi-annual 'Green' exhibition at the Mission Beach Atrs centre. the latest was 2025 with local artists  Carol Giuliany, Lynda Hannah-Williams, Bruce Parry, S. Pullman and Patricia Voltz

Charley's packaging 

Art is integral to the global chocolate industry. Art is part of the mystique of luxury goods; chocolate as art. Since 2021 Charley’s has engaged local Mission Beach artist Kim Rayner (Kimrayner.art@gmail.com) to develop works for our packaging.  These works are displayed at Charley’s Chocolate Factory.

In anticipation of the launch of our luxury chocolate range we commissioned Kim to do a new work,  The brief was a more abstract rendition but redolent of FNQ, as per her previous works. Kim’s latest work is an abstract interpretation of the waters and rainforests of FNQ.

Kim Rayner and Charley’s Chocolates - her inspiration - 2021

After extensive travel abroad in my twenties, I was always drawn back to Australia’s strong organic landscape; it’s so unique. Bold, raw and pure.  It’s inspiring, and I love exploring that connection in my painting.

Now working from Mission Beach in Far North Queensland, I am surrounded with that connection and with my richest inspiration; nature. Living by the ocean, and in the forests of the North, it intimately connects me with the landscape. I live amongst it, the light and the changing elements. I so resonate with this connection to the landscape.

I was asked by Charley’s Chocolate to merge the feeling and colours of the beautiful Wet Tropics with the rich light of the Great Barrier Reef; to show the heart and soul of Mission Beach and Far North Queensland.

We live where the rainforest meets the sea, where colour flows out to the islands and onward to the protected Great Barrier Reef. From the deep green of the rainforests and the golden sands of the beaches and islands, to the turquoise light of the waters of the Coral Sea.

This is also the home of Charley’s Chocolate; boutique chocolate grown and produced in this magical, tropical environment.
