Product Overview

Premium Single Origin DARK CHOCOLATE Australian Grown 70% Cacao

Net 80g

Made in Mission Beach, Australia

In Australia, cocoa only grows in a narrow coastal strip of Tropical North Queensland. This is the home of Charley’s!  This chocolate is hand crafted in Mission Beach Queensland, from cocoa beans grown at the site of the former King Ranch in the Tully River Valley, Queensland.

The beans for this exceptional chocolate are grown in the fertile soil of the Tully River Valley, once part of the “King Ranch”. They produce a fruity chocolate with cooling caramel notes and sweet woodiness.

It was awarded the Silver Medal in 2017 and the Gold medal in 2018 at the Australian Food Awards.

Single Origin means that the cocoa beans come only from a specified region and are not blended with others, similar to fine wine.

In mass produced chocolate these differences in flavour and aroma are “blended out”. In our “Origin” chocolate we celebrate these differences as we bring you a unique product. Savour this chocolate and you’ll notice that the flavours will linger pleasantly on your palate.  It also teams beautifully with wine, spirits, coffee and stout.

Fine chocolate is one of life’s ultimate food experiences.  Enjoy!

Ingredients: Dark Chocolate 100%  Made from Cocoa beans (Australia), Sugar (Australia), Cocoa butter (Venezuela or Peru), Soy Lecithin (Germany). Dark chocolate contains 70% cocoa solids.

Allergy Advice: Contains Soy. Made on equipment that also processes tree nuts (Macadamias)

Storage: Best refrigerated, then allow to warm slightly before enjoying.

This product is gluten free and suitable for Vegans. We do NOT use palm oil, palm oil derivatives, flavours, stabilisers or flavour enhancers.

    Top Notch Australian Chocolate!

Posted by Ian on 13th Nov 2021

I ordered 5 different chocolate products online and had them delivered to Perth, and they all survived the trip beautifully, even in November; that was my greatest concern! I eat a lot of chocolate from all over the world and I have to say the quality of Charley's chocolate is very high, and I am definitely impressed. It was so exciting to be eating top quality chocolate made in Australia from Australian cocoa beans. The King Ranch Tully River Valley dark was my favourite. I wish Charley's all the best with this and I hope the Australian cocoa growing industry grows, but hopefully only to become known as growers of fine cocoa beans for fine chocolate, and stays well away from all the mainstream, poor quality, Australian chocolate products.

    Stunning Dark Chocolate

As much a quality product as the Mission Beach Dark Chocolate. I definitely need a Master Chocolatier to guide me through the variables. So damn good! Thank you.

    Earthy

The thundering bass drum of the chocolates. Gritty, like coffee grinds. Heavy texture, coffee, earthy, ironstone, soy sauce, black bean, super intense, a touch bitter. An essence of chocolate. Would go well with Turkish coffee.

    King Ranch

After a hard day at the office the King Ranch chocolate came across as rich chocolate with a lingering flavor. And smooth on the tongue., super smooth with a lingering chocolate finish. A bit like a village burgundy from a warm year.

    A sturdy dark chocolate

Posted by ruth medd on 30th Dec 2020

Grainier texture than any other single origin. Medium-high roast coffee and heavier, earth-toned flavours here. Easily the heaviest chocolatey flavoured of the group. Also a gentle bitterness accentuating the dark chocolate flavours. At an opposite end of the flavour spectrum to that of the Mt Edna, even though the orchards are not far apart.

This is a favourite of mine in the plain chocolate selection. A well rounded chocolate blend.

Things that will happen to you if you purchase this product

Posted by Julie Coleman on 31st Mar 2017

1 - Other favourite chocolates will forever more pale compared to this chocolate. 2 - You will become greedy and not want to share. 3. - Purchase will always be difficult because you will want to buy more than is good for you. 4 - Common sense about a healthy diet will go out the window, moderation is not a word to be used around this chocolate. 5 - If I say all these horrible things about this chocolate, hopefully there will be more for me. 6 - I bought some for family and I am not sure I want to give it to them.
